The Indiana Economic Development Corporation reported in May 2026 that Eli Lilly and Company's Indiana investment pledges since 2020 now exceed $21 billion. That month Lilly opened a genetic medicine manufacturing facility at the LEAP district in Lebanon and announced another $4.5 billion there. A FedEx hub at IND
FedEx Express has flown out of Indianapolis International since 1988, and INDOT describes the operation as the carrier's No. 2 air cargo hub on the planet, with about 4,000 workers. The airport moved about 5.65 billion pounds of air cargo in 2020. For distributors and makers, that means fast shipping to customers nationwide is a real selling point.
Elanco on the old GM site
When Elanco Animal Health picked central Indiana for its global headquarters in December 2020, the IEDC said the decision would restart development of the 91-acre former General Motors stamping plant site in the capital, empty since 2011. Elanco's chief executive now refers to its OneHealth Innovation district in Indianapolis. Life sciences buyers in the city include drug, animal health, and agricultural science companies.
