Alcohol Marketing in San Jose
Santa Clara County had 130 bars, 34 wineries and 11 breweries with employees in 2023, and San Jose now lets licensed businesses in eight designated zones sell drinks to go during permitted outdoor events. We help bars, taprooms, wineries, distillers and beverage brands promote tastings, releases and event nights with websites, ads aimed only at adults 21 and over, and CRM that keeps regulars returning, all within the state's licensing and warning rules.

Entertainment Zones downtown and east
The City's Entertainment Zone program lets ABC-licensed restaurants, bars, breweries and wineries inside eight pre-designated zones, from Sharks Way and San Pedro Street to Fountain Alley, Post Street and Alum Rock, sell to-go drinks in approved containers during permitted special events. Drinks must stay inside the zone, between 8 a.m. and 11:59 p.m., every drinker wears a 21-plus wristband, and participating businesses register with California ABC each year.
Small producers, local fans
County Business Patterns for 2023 show 34 wineries with 604 employees and 11 breweries with 130 employees in Santa Clara County, alongside 130 drinking places employing 1,654 people. Most are small enough that an owner also runs the social accounts. A steady stream of events, releases and member messages matters more to them than one big campaign.
Warnings in print and online
California's Proposition 65 rules spell out alcohol warnings: on an 8.5 by 11 inch sign the text must be at least 22-point type, and on a 5 by 5 inch sign at least 20-point inside a box. Drinks shipped through delivery services need the warning in type no smaller than the largest consumer information on the product, and never under 8-point. The state publishes the wording in Vietnamese, Chinese, Spanish and Tagalog, among other languages.

Ads that reach under-21s
Restrict every campaign to viewers 21 and older, skip imagery that skews young, and require age confirmation on giveaways and contests.
Online orders without warnings
Shipping or delivering beer, wine or spirits from your own site brings Proposition 65 warning rules into play, so checkout pages and packaging need the required text.
Event promotion that starts late
Entertainment Zone nights and downtown festivals fill fast. Announcing them two weeks out, with reminders, usually beats a same-day post.

Questions and answers
During a permitted outdoor special event in one of the City's eight Entertainment Zones, yes, if the event organizer activates the zone. Participating businesses need an ABC license, must file ABC's annual Entertainment Zone notification, and must follow the zone's hours, wristband and container rules.
Yes. California's Proposition 65 guidance covers alcoholic beverages sold or distributed through package delivery services, with the warning in type no smaller than the largest type used for other consumer information on the product and at least 8-point. Build it into product pages and packaging before launch.
As a reason for regulars to come back: release dates, club pickups, trivia nights and Entertainment Zone events. Collect consent at sign-up, confirm age, keep messages infrequent enough that people stay subscribed, and honor every opt-out promptly.
