Manufacturing & Technology Marketing in St. Louis

The St. Louis metro counted 2,220 manufacturing establishments in 2023 with 110,031 employees, and many were small: 723 had fewer than five people. We help manufacturers across the region, from job shops in St. Louis County to suppliers in St. Charles County, reach engineers and purchasing teams with websites that lead with capabilities, search optimization for technical terms, LinkedIn and Google advertising, and an RFQ pipeline that survives long approvals.

St. Louis context

Who buys from St. Louis plants

Defense work is expanding

Boeing moved the headquarters of Boeing Defense, Space & Security back to St. Louis in February 2026, and the company counts upward of 18,000 people in the region working on defense aircraft, munitions and advanced prototyping. A $1.8 billion advanced facility is also being added in Missouri, according to Boeing's hiring site. Suppliers of machining, coatings, harnesses and engineering services have a large customer close by.

Trucks and vans in Wentzville

General Motors' Wentzville Assembly, open since 1983, builds the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickups and the Express and Savana full-size vans. St. Charles County held 224 manufacturing establishments with 14,258 employees in 2023. Tier suppliers, logistics firms and maintenance contractors around the plant sell to buyers who expect fast, precise answers.

Plants inside city limits

Manufacturing never left the city: 363 establishments employed 15,553 people there in 2023, while St. Louis County had 753 with 45,031 employees. Preliminary BLS data for September 2026 put metro manufacturing employment at 118,400. Plants of every size compete for the same engineers, buyers and skilled hires.

Industrial marketing hurdles

01

Specs decide shortlists

Tolerances, materials, equipment lists and certifications determine who gets the RFQ. We put them on clean, searchable pages instead of burying them in PDFs.

02

Months between quote and order

Qualification and approval can run for months. Regular follow-up and useful technical content keep your shop in the conversation until a purchase order arrives.

03

Recruiting from one talent pool

Hiring machinists and technicians means competing with very large employers nearby, so careers pages deserve the same care as sales pages.

Questions and answers

Yes. Of the 2,220 manufacturing establishments in the metro in 2023, 723 had fewer than five employees. Small shops win on specialty processes, quick turnaround and location, and our job is to make those strengths obvious to the buyers who need them.

Search and LinkedIn campaigns can bring early inquiries within a couple of months, but most manufacturers see a steadier flow after about six months of content and follow-up. Orders can take longer still, so we track pipeline value from the start.

We cannot speak for any company's sourcing decisions, but we can make your capabilities, certifications and quality systems easy to find and check. With Boeing's defense headquarters back in St. Louis since February 2026, nearby suppliers have good reason to market their location and capacity.
