Short answer

Well-known SEO agencies include Ignite Visibility, NP Digital, Seer Interactive, Siege Media, Victorious and WebFX, which range from SEO-only specialists to large full-service firms. Commerce Media Group, which publishes this list, does SEO as part of its website practice, including technical, on-page and local search, for small and mid-size businesses in the US and Canada.

SEO agencies differ more than their service pages suggest. Some do nothing but search, some lead with content and digital PR, and some fold SEO into a wider program of paid media and web work. The right partner depends on whether you need local visibility, national content, technical fixes, or SEO tied to the rest of your marketing. Below are seven agencies worth knowing, with the facts each company publishes about itself.

The agencies

Commerce Media Group (our agency)

SEO is part of our website practice: keyword research, technical and on-page SEO, and local search, including Google Business Profile. Because the same team builds the site and runs paid media, search work and ads share the same pages, tracking and reporting. Worth knowing: we are a small team. See our website design and SEO practice.

Ignite Visibility

Founded in 2013 and headquartered in San Diego, Ignite Visibility says it has more than 700 people and has served more than 2,500 brands, over 400 of them multi-location. Its search work covers SEO, local SEO, AI SEO, enterprise SEO, digital PR and content, and it also offers paid media and web design. Worth knowing: it partnered with Mountaingate Capital in 2023, has made several acquisitions since, and describes itself as engineered for enterprise, franchise and multi-location growth.

NP Digital

Co-founded in 2017 by Neil Patel, NP Digital says it works in 28 countries with more than 1,000 employees and over 270 clients. Its services include SEO, AI search optimization, content marketing and digital PR, along with paid media and web design. Worth knowing: it says it helps enterprise and small and mid-size clients alike, and it owns the AnswerThePublic research tool.

Seer Interactive

Seer Interactive has worked in search since 2002 and is headquartered in Philadelphia. It describes a team of more than 250 people and says it works with more than 130 enterprise clients, across SEO, GEO, analytics, CRO and paid media. Worth knowing: it is a Certified B Corp and positions itself for large enterprises.

Siege Media

Siege Media is a fully remote agency with a mailing address in Austin, Texas, and says it has grown to more than 120 employees. It is best known for content-led SEO, with services including GEO, SEO consulting, content strategy and creation, and digital PR. Worth knowing: it does not list paid media or local SEO, and it says it works with startups and enterprises in industries such as SaaS, fintech and ecommerce.

Victorious

Founded in 2013 and headquartered in San Francisco, Victorious describes itself as an SEO-only agency with a search-only focus. Its services cover technical and on-page SEO, link building, content, AEO and GEO, site migrations and local and multi-location SEO. Worth knowing: it does not offer paid media, and its site gives two different figures for brands served, so ask for a current number.

WebFX

Founded in 1996 and headquartered in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, WebFX says it has more than 750 digital marketing experts. It offers SEO alongside PPC, web design and other digital marketing services. Worth knowing: it acquired the Nutshell CRM in 2022, and its site gives different team sizes on different pages.

How to choose an SEO agency

  • Decide what kind of search you need. Local visibility, national content and technical fixes call for different strengths.
  • Ask how they measure success. Leads, calls and revenue from search matter more than rankings for terms nobody buys from.
  • Ask about AI search. Find out how they handle visibility in AI answers as well as classic search results.
  • Check who implements changes. Some agencies recommend fixes and leave the work to your developer; others make the changes.
  • Look at how SEO connects to the rest. Search traffic converts better when the website, tracking and follow-up are built for it.
  • Our buyer's guides list the questions to ask in your industry.

How we chose these agencies

We included well-established agencies that operate under their own name in 2026, publish what they do on their own websites, and offer SEO as a core service. We left out smaller agencies. We did not score or rank anyone: each agency here suits different situations, and the right choice depends on your size, market and goals. If a fact about a company changes, tell us through our contact page and we will correct it. See our editorial standards.

Questions

An SEO agency improves how your site appears in search results and, increasingly, in AI-generated answers. The work usually covers keyword research, technical fixes, on-page changes, content and links, and for local businesses, Google Business Profile. Some agencies only recommend changes, while others make them, so ask which you are paying for before you compare proposals.

An SEO-only agency can go deeper on search, which suits companies with a large site or a strong in-house team for everything else. A full-service agency can connect SEO with the website, paid media and follow-up, which suits businesses that want one team accountable for leads. Decide which gap you are actually trying to fill first.

No. We publish this list, so we list ourselves first and label it as our agency, and the other agencies follow in alphabetical order. We have not scored or rated anyone. The facts about each company come from its own website, and the sources are listed at the end so you can check them yourself.

It depends on your site, your market and how much needs fixing. Technical and on-page fixes can help sooner, while content and authority build over months. Be cautious of guaranteed rankings or timelines. Ask an agency what it will change first, which numbers it will report, and what progress should look like at each review.
