How to choose a web design and development agency
- Name the job the site has to do. A product platform, a brand flagship and a lead-generating marketing site need different teams.
- Ask who builds it and who maintains it. Find out what happens after launch, including hosting, updates and fixes.
- Check speed and search foundations. A fast, mobile-friendly, search-ready site is easier to grow than one that needs rework later.
- Connect the site to your tools. Forms, booking and CRM should be wired in from day one, with tracking that shows which pages bring in leads.
- Ask how success is measured. Leads and sales from the site matter more than design awards.
- Our buyer's guides list the questions to ask in your industry.
How we chose these agencies
We included well-established agencies that operate under their own name in 2026, publish what they do on their own websites, and offer web design and development as a core service. We left out smaller studios. We did not score or rank anyone: each agency here suits different situations, and the right choice depends on what you are building and why. If a fact about a company changes, tell us through our contact page and we will correct it. See our editorial standards.
