Pool care in the Valley
A long, hot season
In a normal year the triple-digit stretch at Phoenix Sky Harbor runs from about May 2 to October 5, by National Weather Service records, and recent years have run hotter, with 122 such days in 2025 and 143 in 2024. That is five months of heat that pool owners plan around, and the stretch when service and repair companies are busiest.
Licensed service and repair
Arizona's R-6 Swimming Pool Service and Repair license allows servicing and minor repair of residential pools and accessories, but excludes plumbing connections to potable water, gas lines, gas chlorine systems, and electrical work beyond the first disconnect. It also does not cover complete replacement of plaster or pebble interiors and decks. Pool builders hold separate general swimming pool contractor licenses (B-5 and B-6).
Hard water from the start
Phoenix Water Services measured tap water hardness of between 10 and 17.6 grains per gallon in its 2025 report. Every fill and top-off starts with that water, so content about scale and water balance speaks directly to Valley pool owners.
What Phoenix pool companies run into
Route density
Profit depends on stops close together. Marketing should target the streets and neighborhoods where your technicians already drive every single week.
Seasonal churn
Some owners cancel in winter and come back in spring. Retention offers and reminders keep those accounts active all year.
Repair work needs proof
Pump, heater, and filter jobs go to companies that show licensing, warranties, and quick availability on their website and profile.
