Home Builder Marketing in Richmond
In 2025, Census permit data counted 2,194 new housing units authorized in Chesterfield, 2,323 in Henrico and 511 in Hanover, plus 2,681 in Richmond city. For custom and production builders working those counties, we build sites where buyers can explore each community and plan, run search and social ads aimed at the right school zones and commutes, and keep prospects warm in a CRM for as long as their move takes.
Where Richmond-area homes are being built
Chesterfield's growth leads
Chesterfield added about 33,000 residents between the 2020 estimates base and July 2025, growth of 9.1 percent, and its households average 2.66 members, larger than Henrico's 2.42 or the city's 2.10. Owner-occupancy runs 76.7 percent in Chesterfield and 82.1 percent in Hanover. Family buyers moving into those counties are the core audience for most production builders.
City permits, county houses
The city authorized 2,681 units in 2025, more than any single county, and its existing housing leans toward multifamily: buildings of 20 or more units held 19.4 percent of city homes in a 2022 Census profile, compared with 7.4 percent across the metro, where 69.1 percent of homes are detached. Builders of detached houses should plan campaigns locality by locality.
Licensing, contracts and codes
Virginia's residential building contractor (RBC) classification covers building and remodeling dwellings and townhouses; electrical, plumbing, HVAC and gas work fall outside it. When a builder works on a lot the buyer owns, Board for Contractors rules require a signed written contract with dates, total cost and payment schedule. Chesterfield enforces the 2021 edition of the Virginia building codes and requires permits for most residential work.

Community pages buyers can use
Buyers search by town and school, so every subdivision, floor plan and move-in-ready house deserves its own page with a map, nearby schools and what is down the road.
Commute-aware messaging
Drive times matter to buyers weighing Chesterfield against Hanover. Showing the commute to downtown, West End offices or Meadowville helps them compare.
Nurture through a long decision
Home buyers tour, pause and return weeks later. Updates on new releases, incentives and construction progress keep your communities on their list.

Questions and answers
Henrico and Chesterfield together authorized more than 4,500 new units in 2025 and Hanover 511, while the city authorized 2,681. Because the city's housing leans multifamily, builders of detached homes usually concentrate on the counties, planned community by community and school by school.
Builders contracting to build or remodel homes on property owned by someone else need a Board for Contractors license, typically the residential building (RBC) classification, which excludes electrical, plumbing, HVAC and gas work. We make sure license details appear on your site and in your marketing.
Often six months or more. Many buyers start browsing long before they can move, so we set up long-term email and text updates about new phases, incentives and finished homes, while sending ready buyers straight to a sales counselor.
