Roofing Marketing in Birmingham
Since January 2019, any residential roofing job over $2,500 in Alabama has required a Home Builders Licensure Board roofers license backed by a $10,000 bond. That rule shapes who can bid and what customers ask before they sign. We help licensed Birmingham roofers win local searches, prepare for the spring storm season and convert inspection requests into signed replacements.
Storms, rain and aging roofs
Spring is the stormiest season
The National Weather Service office for Birmingham says severe thunderstorm and tornado risk peaks in spring, especially March and April. Rain is plentiful the rest of the year as well, with some winter months, plus March and July, getting about twice the rainfall of October. Leaks show up in every season, but storm damage clusters early in the year.
Thousands of roofs past their prime
Only 8,138 of Birmingham's 109,349 housing units were built in 2010 or later, according to Census survey estimates for 2020 to 2024, so more than nine in ten roofs in the city sit on houses at least 15 years old. Inside the city, 45.5 percent of homes are owner-occupied; across Jefferson County the share is 63.9 percent.
A small field of licensed firms
Census counted 39 roofing contractors in Jefferson County in 2023 and 20 in Shelby County, with 352 and 261 employees. Many crews are tiny: in Jefferson County, 20 of the 39 roofing companies reported fewer than five workers. With so few companies, reviews and map rankings do much of the work of separating one roofer from the next in each suburb.

License and bond, shown plainly
Homeowners can verify an HBLB roofers license. Showing the license number and mentioning the bond requirement on your site answers the first question a careful buyer asks.
Ready before the warning
Storm landing pages, ad copy and extra call coverage should be built in February so they can go live the day severe weather rolls through.
From inspection to signed contract
Photos, written estimates and quick follow-up turn a free inspection into a replacement, especially when the homeowner is also working through an insurance claim.

Questions and answers
For residential roofing over $2,500, yes. Since January 1, 2019, the Alabama Home Builders Licensure Board has required a roofers license, with a $10,000 bond, for work that seals or weatherproofs the upper covering of a home. A limited builder's license does not cover roofing.
Demand follows severe weather, and NWS Birmingham identifies March and April as the stormiest months. Set budgets and staffing for spring, then use summer and fall for inspections, maintenance offers and collecting reviews.
Only if the license allows it. In Alabama an unlimited home builders license covers residential roofing, a limited license does not, and a roofers license covers roofing alone. Ads should match the license you actually hold.
