Healthcare Marketing in San Jose
San Jose's public hospitals carry an extraordinary load: Valley Medical Center treated 5,196 trauma patients in 2024, more than any other trauma center in California. Around the big systems practice more than a thousand physician offices in Santa Clara County. We help physician groups, specialists, urgent care operators and outpatient centers reach patients through search, websites and campaigns built so that medical information stays protected.
Hospitals and private practice
A County-run hospital network
Three of the four acute care hospitals run by Santa Clara Valley Healthcare stand in San Jose: Valley Medical, O'Connor and, since the County bought it from HCA Healthcare for $150 million and took over on April 1, 2025, Regional, where Level II trauma, stroke and STEMI care resumed for East San Jose. In 2023, uninsured, Medi-Cal and Medicare patients made up more than eight in ten County hospital stays and clinic visits.
Kaiser and independent groups
Kaiser Permanente runs San Jose Medical Center on Hospital Parkway, which Newsweek listed among America's Best Maternity Hospitals for 2026. Beyond the large systems, County Business Patterns counted 1,139 physicians' offices with 10,426 employees and 16 general hospitals with 49,452 employees in Santa Clara County in 2023, and the metro's education and health services workforce reached about 229,200 in September 2026, up 5.1 percent over September 2025 (BLS, preliminary).
Medical information stays out of ads
Civil Code section 56.10, the heart of the state's medical privacy statute, bars providers and their contractors from sharing, selling or otherwise turning a patient's medical information into marketing material without the patient's explicit permission. Tracking pixels on appointment pages, audience lists built from patient records and testimonials all need review against that rule. Campaigns can still target by location, language and search intent without touching anyone's health data.
Reaching San Jose patients responsibly
Tracking that leaks nothing
Analytics and ad tags on booking and condition pages should be configured so diagnoses, appointment types and form answers never reach advertising platforms.
Plain coverage information
State whether you take Medi-Cal, Medicare and specific commercial plans, and what new patients should bring. Vague insurance wording sends callers to competitors.
Translated pages and reminders
Many San Jose patients read Spanish, Vietnamese or Chinese first. Translated pages, forms and reminders make care easier to choose, schedule and keep.

Questions and answers
With caution. Under Civil Code section 56.10, a provider may not put patient medical information to marketing use unless the patient has expressly agreed, so pixels on appointment, condition or intake pages that pass health details to ad platforms create real risk. A safer setup limits ad tags to general pages and is reviewed with counsel.
Easy access where big systems can feel slow: same-week appointments if you offer them, named physicians, clear insurance information and pages for the specific conditions you treat. Local searches that pair a specialty with a San Jose neighborhood are where independents can appear beside the major systems.
For the patients you actually serve. County officials say roughly four in ten of Santa Clara County's Medi-Cal members live less than five miles from the Regional campus in East San Jose. Language, coverage and transportation details on your site should reflect your real patient mix, district by district.
